I have sympathy for bad breath panic because it is hard to self-test and easy to obsess over. The fix depends on the source. Mint is not a diagnosis.
So what is the honest answer?
Bad breath is not always garlic. Check tongue coating, gums, dry mouth, tonsils, and reflux.
Tongue bacteria create sulfur smells. Gum disease can smell sour or metallic. Dry mouth concentrates odor. Tonsil stones smell awful. Reflux and sinus drainage can also show up as breath.
The part people usually miss
Start with tongue scraping, flossing, water, and dental cleaning. If breath stays bad despite clean gums, ask about tonsils, reflux, sinus issues, or medication dry mouth.
My rule is boring and useful: change one thing, watch what happens, and stop if your mouth gets irritated. Teeth respond better to steady habits than to panic routines before weddings, photos, or dentist appointments.
How I would handle it this week
- Take a baseline photo in bathroom lighting you can repeat.
- Keep brushing gentle at the gumline, soft bristles only.
- Do not stack three new products at once, because then you cannot tell what helped or hurt.
